Grissom s'apprête à faire son discours sur le nouveau directeur adjoint de la police scientifique quand il reçoit un appel urgent. Nikki Jensen, une adolescente, est trouvée morte dans la suite d'un grand hôtel. Grissom enquête sur cet assassinat, aidé par Sophia Curtis, qui fait normalement partie de l'équipe de jour. Mais lorsque ce meurtre est accompagné d'un kidnapping, tous les détectives se mobilisent pour éclaircir cette affaire pour le moins trouble
