Watson identifie le corps comme étant celui d'un mafieux disparu depuis vingt ans. Joan et Sherlock se rendent chez le père du disparu pour avoir des informations, mais celui-ci meurt dans une explosion. Pendant cette enquête, Holmes tente de renouer avec Bell, avec qui il est toujours en froid
