Le Dr Mark Greene tente de trouver un donneur de coeur pour Sam Gasner. Parallèlement, il doit prendre une décision : quitter Chicago pour suivre sa femme, ou rester à l'hôpital et se séparer de sa famille. Le Dr Douglas Ross aide financièrement la mère d'une petite fille asthmatique. Il s'occupe également d'une femme enceinte, victime d'un accident de voiture et qui va accoucher prématurément. Benton retrouve Ivan Gregor, qui s'est accidentellement tiré une balle dans l'orteil. Jim Carter soupçonne Liz de lui avoir transmis un herpès
