Shane Falco, autrefois espoir n°1 du football américain professionnel, est poursuivi par la poisse. Mais la chance tourne : une grève des joueurs vide les terrains de football. Les Washington Redskins risquent une fois de plus de finir bons derniers. L'entraîneur Jimmy McGinty devient l'homme de la situation et, surtout, la grève tourne en faveur de Shane et d'une poignée de joueurs étrangers ou inconnus. Ces nouveaux remplaçants, dont un sumotori, un policier déjanté, un joueur de soccer européen et deux jumeaux gigantesques, mettent la foule en délire par leur jeu hors du commun et leur excellent esprit d'équipe. Les Washington Redskins nouveaux sont arrivés !
