Une équipe de scientifiques est envoyée dans l'océan Arctique pour étudier le changement climatique et la vie marine sous la glace. Leur station de recherche flottante est construite directement sur une plate-forme de glace. Cependant, ils ignorent que la même zone abrite une nouvelle race de requins, particulièrement agressifs. Suite au dégel d'une partie profonde de l'océan, les prédateurs sortent de leur sommeil.
