After recording all 32 Beethoven piano sonatas to celebrate the composer's 250th birthday, celebrated Italian pianist Riccardo Schwartz decided to record solo piano works by Robert Schumann. Davidsbündlertänze (Dances of the League of David), Op. 6, is a group of eighteen pieces for piano composed in 1837, named after Schumann's music society Davidsbündler. The pieces are characteristic, musical dialogues about contemporary music between Schumann's characters Florestan and Eusebius, the active and the passive aspects of his own personality. Riccardo Schwartz (1986) has had the privilege of performing as a soloist with many world-renowned conductors, among them Gustav Kuhn and Yuri Temirkanov. His acclaimed performances include recitals and concertos for piano and orchestra in many prestigious concert halls.
