Ancien combattant de la guerre d'indépendance kurde, Baran, shérif dans la capitale, Erbil, demande à être muté dans un petit village, à la frontière de l'Iran, de l'Irak et de la Turquie. Il y ouvrira le premier poste de police du tout jeune État pour lequel il s'est battu. Baran et son adjoint, Reber, se heurtent bientôt aux trafiquants d'armes, de médicaments et de drogues qui sévissent dans la région. Baran fait également la connaissance de la jeune et belle Govend, institutrice militant contre le système patriarcal qui régit toujours la société
