Les parents d'une adolescente sont tués alors qu'elle faisait du baby-sitting. Horatio et son équipe enquêtent dans la banlieue aisée où s'est déroulé le drame. Ils fouillent dans les secrets des habitants et découvrent un triangle amoureux, parfait mobile pour le meurtre. Le petit ami de la baby-sitter avait une relation intime la mère de celle-ci. Pendant ce temps, un indice amène Horatio à s'intéresser de plus près à un médecin, qui cache aussi de noirs secrets. Son passé trouble cache-t-il un tueur en série ?
