Richard Laken est retrouvé mort à l'extérieur d'un bar où se déroulait un speed-dating. Horatio et son équipe découvrent que sa voiture a été recouverte d'acétone, dont les traces conduisent jusqu'à l'une des invitées. Celle-ci avoue qu'elle sortait avec Laken, mais que celui-ci avait fini par la laisser tomber. Pour se venger, elle a effectivement versé du dissolvant sur sa voiture, mais jure ne pas l'avoir tué. Horatio et son équipe apprennent que Laken a récemment été témoin d'une agression. Une nouvelle piste s'ouvre à eux
