L'institut découvre qu'il s'agissait d'une jeune femme, atteinte d'un lupus et travaillant dans un dispensaire fournissant du cannabis à usage médical. Cette affaire touche de près Wendell Bray, de retour à l'institut après sa chimiothérapie et lui-même usager du cannabis thérapeutique
